Thank you for choosing Sorus! These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Sorus mobile application ("App," "Service," or "Sorus") provided by Sorus ("we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, installing, or using Sorus, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Please read these Terms carefully, especially the sections regarding:
  • Educational use only (Section 3)
  • Medical disclaimer (Section 4)
  • User responsibilities (Section 6)

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Sorus, you confirm that:

  1. You are at least 18 years of age, or at least 16 years of age with parental/guardian consent where permitted by law
  2. You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  3. You are not prohibited from using the App under any applicable laws
  4. You will use the App in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws

If you are using Sorus on behalf of an organization (such as a medical school), you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Sorus is a mobile application designed to help medical students:

3. Educational Purpose Only

🎓 Important: Sorus is an Educational Tool

Sorus is designed exclusively for educational and learning purposes within medical education.

Sorus is intended for:

  • Medical students practicing clinical documentation
  • Healthcare students learning case presentation formats
  • Educational exercises and study materials
  • Self-assessment and exam preparation

Sorus is NOT intended for:

  • Actual patient care or clinical practice
  • Making medical diagnoses or treatment decisions
  • Storing real, identifiable patient medical records
  • Replacing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
  • Professional medical documentation in clinical settings

Your use of Sorus must be consistent with its educational purpose at all times.

4. Medical and Health Disclaimer

The content created, stored, or displayed within Sorus does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. Sorus does not provide healthcare services and should never be used as a substitute for professional medical judgment.

NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE:

Sorus is not a medical device, clinical decision support system, or healthcare software. It has not been reviewed, approved, or certified by any medical regulatory authority including but not limited to the FDA, CE, or equivalent bodies.

PATIENT DATA RESPONSIBILITY:

If you choose to document information based on real clinical encounters:

  • You MUST anonymize and de-identify all patient information
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with your institution's policies and applicable laws
  • We strongly recommend using only fictional patient details
ALWAYS CONSULT QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS:

For actual medical concerns, always consult qualified healthcare professionals. Nothing in Sorus should delay seeking professional medical advice.

5. Account Registration and Security

Creating Your Account

To use Sorus, you must create an account using Google Sign-In or Phone Number Authentication.

You agree to provide accurate registration info, keep your credentials secure, and notify us of any unauthorized access.

Account Termination

By You: You may delete your account at any time through the App's Profile section profile.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activities.

6. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

✅ You Agree To:

  • Use Sorus only for lawful, educational purposes
  • Respect patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Comply with your institution's policies
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Use the App in good faith

❌ You Agree NOT To:

  • Enter real, identifiable patient information
  • Store actual patient medical records
  • Use Sorus for clinical documentation
  • Attempt to access other users' data
  • Reverse engineer or hack the App

7. Intellectual Property

Sorus is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You get a limited license to use it for educational purposes. You retain ownership of content you create (case notes).

8. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important. Our collection and use of data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

9. Third-Party Services

We use Firebase/Google Cloud for backend services. These services have their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Service Availability

We strive for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify or discontinue features at any time.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

"AS IS" BASIS

SORUS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT DAMAGES, LOGIN DATA, OR MEDICAL/CLINICAL OUTCOMES ARISING FROM YOUR USE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $50 USD.

14. Dispute Resolution

Before any formal dispute, you agree to attempt informal resolution by contacting us at business@sorusapp.com for at least 30 days.
